We begin the program with Denver In Decay under an "emergency declaration" due to its homeless crisis. Sound from Mayor Mike Johnston's first press conference - Steffan was there and we dissect the messaging. The goal is to get 1000 "chronically unhoused" into hotels and "micro communities." We wrap the hour with DPD calls in Denver the past 72 hours, the Arizona heat wave and a taste of a new Jason Aldean song.

Will ANYTHING change now that Denver has a new Mayor? Calls/texts. Sound from the ceremonies today and analysis/commentary. Do you give the new Mayor a break - at least early-on. So many questions. Note to anyone who will listen: diversity, equity and inclusion talk is NOT reducing crime, homelessness, drug abuse or anything else. Our film assignment this week: Paul Newman and Jackie Gleason in "The Hustler" from 1961. Clips/trivia Friday evening. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
